A mechanical lift may be recommended if your family member cannot stand up independently or if weight makes it too difficult to move him or her. This program will introduce you to how a lift works.
Learn the correct lifting technique by watching an occupational therapist demonstrate how to move a person from bed to wheelchair and from wheelchair to bed. Both two-person and one-person transfers are shown; safety measures at each step of the process are included.
The program also discusses how to address any fear your family member may have about being lifted.
