Course Description

This course will provide direct care staff with relevant knowledge about HIV and AIDS to assist in their care of residents, direct care staff will obtain knowledge on the HIV/AIDS symptoms, modes of transmission, prevention, testing, and treatment. Common HIV medical complications are presented. Participants will gain an understanding of the treatment and medications that are used against HIV. Universal precautions and care facility considerations are presented to help care providers minimize accidental occupational exposure. Participants will also learn about the typical physical and mental challenges faced when living with HIV/Aids.
