8 caregiver courses are included in this online training package. You will learn about caregiver tasks, HIPAA and client rights, techniques for observation and reporting, activities for daily living, infection prevention, personal care, caregiver and client ethics, and caregiving core values.
After completing CARE102, Caregiving Tasks and Client Populations, the student will be able to: apply principles that help you do your job well; identify the tasks a PCA may perform; work more effectively with special populations; understand the importance of communication with team members; recognize the keys to becoming a good caregiver.
After completing CARE105, HIPAA and Client Rights, the student will be able to: protect the clients’ rights; understand HIPAA and confidentiality; work with an Ombudsman; and understand how restraints violate clients’ rights. The student will realize the personal and emotional commitment required of a caregiver and understand HIPAA requirements as well as the Client’s Bill of Rights, and how each of those rights impact the actions of the caregiver.
After completing CARE127, Observation, Reporting, and Recording, the student will be able to recognize health concerns during an observation, reporting, and recording process. As a caregiver your skills of observation, reporting and recording are vital to helping the rest of the care team provide the best care possible to your clients.
After completing CARE124, Instrumental Activities of Daily Living, the student will be able to: recognize the importance of instrumental activities of daily living; take steps for helping clients with the seven basic areas of IADLs; maintain a clean and safe environment; assist client by escorting them to an appointment; and enhance client’s quality of life by incorporating interesting and engaging activities into the Client’s routine that meet the Client’s wants and needs.
After completing CARE118, Infection Prevention and Control, the student will be able to: understand hand hygiene; keep clients clean and healthy; care for a client’s environment; make a bed and safely handle linens; handle contaminated materials and hazardous waste; protect yourself and clients from communicable diseases; understand special risks and needs associated with Hepatitis; and much more.
After completing CARE123, Providing Personal Care, the student will be able to: assist clients with the essential areas of personal care: bed bath, bathing, shampooing, back rubs, grooming assistance, denture and mouth care, fingernail and foot care, proper use of assistive devices, dressing, and shaving.
After completing CARE103, Ethics and Personal Rights, the student will be able to: understand the ethical approach to providing care; apply ethics in common situations; abide by the Caregiver’s Code of Ethics; recognize the client's need for and right to independence; communicate, interact and perform job tasks always in a manner that places a high value on client's need for and right to independence, personal dignity, privacy and choice.
After completing CARE101, Caregiving Core Values Teamwork, the student will be able to understand the role of the CAREGIVER as an integral and frontline member of a team of care providers, which may include the client, the family, the health care provider, and other members of the team.
